About Winsley Acorns Preschool

Welcome to Winsley Acorns Preschool. Located in the charming village of Winsley, our pre-school uses its wonderful setting to inspire our children with a vibrant, nature based, nurturing environment where every child is celebrated and individual attention is prioritised. Our team of experienced and dedicated educators understands the importance of early childhood education in shaping young minds. Our children benefit from outstanding opportunities to explore their own natural curiosity about the world, both inside and outside of our preschool setting. With our care and support, they become confident, competent and inquisitive learners, fully prepared for the next steps in their educational journey and with a true love of learning.

If you would like to discuss your child's needs or visit our wonderful setting, please call us on 01225 865131 or email us at manager@winsleyacornspreschool.co.uk.

We follow the principles of The Curiosity Approach and are currently working towards full accreditation. The Curiosity Approach aims to create 'thinkers and doers' by prioritising child-led learning and encouraging children to make their own choices and to think about things for themselves. This leads to enhanced confidence, critical thinking and problem solving. The Curiosity Approach draws from various other philosophies of early years education, including the Reggio Emilia approach, Te Whariki, Montessori, Pikler and Steiner. As a charity, we are hugely grateful for donations so that we can continue to provide an excellent standard of care and educational opportunity for our children. A link is on our Fundraising Page.

Testimonials

  • ‘‘Our son settled into Acorns quickly and happily after an unhappy start at another nursery. He generally preferred to play with the toys rather than taking part in all the craft activities so it was great that he had the freedom to do that. The staff took his preferences on board and he'd often come home with stories about ramps they had built together outside for the cars as well as the books that he'd been reading about dinosaurs! It was great having the park next door so he and his friends could have extra time running around together after Acorns before we went home.

He's moved up to school now, but he does ask from time to time if he can go back to Acorns!’’

  • "Acorns has a lovely family feel and the teachers are so loving and caring. He will miss them all very much. "

  • "They have done a great job preparing him for school and I feel confident that he is ready to go in September.”

  • "We feel blessed to have had our two children in Acorns - they've gone above and beyond in their care and development of our children."

  • ‘‘Our son joined Acorns for a year to help aid his transition to school and I wish we had done it sooner. Acorns is a really nurturing environment that's brought out the best in his personality. The children are empowered to do lots of things themselves - such as being responsible for their own belongings, getting coats and bags on at the end of the day - and that's really helped him get ready for school. The staff are incredible - really warm and caring towards the children but also excellent teachers.

When our son joined Acorns he found it a big change but the staff were so caring towards him. His key worker would take the time to read him a story and connect with him when we dropped him off. They would explain the structure of the day so he knew when he would be going home and they helped him form friendships with others so he would settle quicker.

I would recommend Acorns to anyone - they have looked after our son as if he was their own and have helped mould him into a fantastic little person through everything they've taught him.’’

  • ‘‘ My daughter has absolutely thrived at acorns. She absolutely loves it and wants to go every day. I always feel safe in the knowledge she is being well cared for and all her needs are met. She has learned so much from her time there and her confidence has soared. All the staff are absolutely brilliant and I couldn’t have picked a better preschool for my daughter.‘‘

  • ‘‘J never liked nursery or being away from home before he started at Acorns, he used to scream uncontrollably every drop off, breaking my heart every time! Now he asks every morning ‘am I going to Acorns today’ and can’t get out the house quickly enough. It’s a friendly setting where your children can roam, explore and develop. Most importantly for us though they will love it, every drop off I’ve so rarely seen any child upset to go in and that says it all really. The staff are warm and welcoming and you feel your children and safe and cared for.

A truly lovely setting I wholeheartedly recommend.’’

  • ‘My son came on leaps and bounds at Acorns. The free play set up and gorgeous inside/outside environment was wonderful for nurturing his curiosity, creativity and energy. He has now started school, which has felt straightforward because of how well prepared he was by his experience here. I can’t thank the team enough!’

‘‘Two of my boys have attended Acorns and it’s been such a huge part of our lives.

Hayley and her team have been amazing, such a huge support to me over the years, they have helped my boys grow into the happy confident children they are today.

Acorns is a truly special, warm, happy and inclusive place where you always feel welcomed and cared for.

I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a preschool. We will miss Acorns and all the wonderful staff so much, but will always be grateful for the memories and the big part they’ve played in our lives. ❤️’’
